Mrs. Esther Mae Phillips Taylor of Geneva, Alabama went home to be with her
Lord and Savior Wednesday, February 15, 2012. She was 87.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, in the chapel of Sorrells
Funeral Home in Geneva with Dr. Mike Shirah officiating. Burial will follow in
the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva
directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, February
16, from 6 until 8 p.m.
The family asked that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to
the Maple Avenue Baptist Church. 1009 W. Maple Ave., Geneva, AL 36340.
Mrs. Taylor was born November 28, 1924 in Coffee County, Alabama to the late
Johnny Prestonand Mary Levenne Leddon Phillips. After 26 years of service she
retired from B.C. Moore and Sons. For more than 50 years she was a very active
member of Maple Avenue Baptist Church and the adult choir. She was very faithful
and devoted to her family and her church. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Acie W. Taylor, Geneva; one son,
Denny Taylor (Madelyn), Madison, WI; one daughter, Diane Goodnight, Hartford;
five grandchildren: Denise Crosby and Dennis Goodnight, both of Hartford, Kevin
Goodnight, Raleigh, NC, Veronica Exum, Dothan, Amber Taylor Flanagan (Gary J.),
Geneva; special adopted granddaughter, Krystyn Mixon Davis, Geneva; four
great-grandchildren: Daniel Paul. Avery Paul and Brittany Crosby all of Geneva,
Ashlen Exum, Dothan: one great great-grandson, Dylan Michael Taylor, Geneva;
special first cousin Billy Joe Phillips, Geneva; special family friend, Dot Anderson;
other extended family and a host of friends.

Mrs. Mary Alice Sasser Richardson of Samson, Alabama passed away Monday,
February 13,2012. She was 76.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Thursday. February 16, in the chapel of
Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Billy Locke and Rev. Donnie Earles
officiating. Burial will follow in the Travelers Rest Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral
Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home
Wednesday, February 15 from 6 until 8 p.m.
Mrs. Richardson was born December 14, 1935 in Coffee County, Alabama to the
late William and Della Richardson Sasser. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting.
Mrs. Richardson was a member of Hurricane Creek Baptist Church. She was a
very loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Calhoun P. "Buddy" Richardson,
a sister, Mattie Mae Cardwell, as well as four brothers, George, William,
Clayton and Charlie Sasser, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter. Patricia Smith (Scott); one son. Carl Richardson;
one grandson, Tyler Smith, all of Samson: one daughter-in-law, Stephanie Johnson,
Bethlehem. FL, two sisters: Louvenia Money, Goodman Community, Vera Baine (Bill),
Samson: one brother, Harvey Sasser (Verbie), Goodman Community; several nieces,
nephews, other extended family and friends.
The family would like to say thank you to Covenant Hospice and nurses Lindsey and
Carla for their devoted love and care.

Mr. Marvin Morgan of Samson passed away on February 14, 2012. He was 77.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2012 in the chapel
of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Randall Pearson and Rev. Elbert Smith
officiating. Burial will follow in Eden Baptist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral
Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on
Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m.
Mr. Morgan was born in Geneva County, AL on June 12, 1934 to the late Lewis Clayton
Morgan and Lula Tillman Morgan. He worked for 25 years with Vickers Construction in
Geneva. He was a member of Westside Assembly of God Church. Mr. Morgan loved
Alabama Crimson Tide football and going to the pond bass fishing. He lived in the Marl
Community his whole life and enjoyed reminiscing with his buddies at Harry Wilson's Store.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, John Morgan, Rubin Morgan, Melvin Morgan
and James "Doc" Morgan; sister, Burnice Crowley; and daughter, Betty Morgan Varner.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Aycock Morgan; son, Billy Ray Morgan,
both of Samson; daughter, Linda Stanley (Chuck) of Westville, FL; and grandson,
Hunter Morgan of Samson.

Jarvis Ward of Hartford passed away Tuesday morning January 31, 2012 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 8. Funeral Services will be held Sunday at 2 P.M. from the Geneva County High School in Hartford. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery in Hartford under the direction of Wlregrass Funeral Home of Geneva. The family will receive friends at Living Waters Church of God in Christ in Hartford Saturday night from 6 to 8 P.M.

Jimmy Charles Clark of West Point, Mississippi and formerly of Geneva Passed away Sunday night January 29, 2012 in a Tupolo, Mississippi hospital. He was 47. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 4th at 1p.m. from the St. Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Geneva with Rev. Pierre Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wlregrass Funeral Home of Geneva. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday night from 6 to 8 pm.

Mr. Harry Hampton Griggs of Samson, Alabama passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012. He was 60.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Richard Thorn and Minister Harry O. Adkison officiating. Sandy Bienvenu will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Travelers Rest Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continue until service time.

A memorial celebration will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 5, at AJ's on the harbor in Destin, Florida.
Harry was born October 2, 1951 in Coffee County, Alabama to Hubert Hampton Griggs and the late Penny Davis Jenkins Griggs. He loved music and was a very talented musician. He enjoyed flying and several years ago he acquired his private pilots licenses, but fishing and boating was his passion. Harry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Samson.
Survivors include one son, Garrett Hampton Griggs (Tammy), Mandeville, LA; one daughter, Shawn. Michelle Jacoby, (John); one grandson. Kyan Jacoby, all of Destin, FL; companion. Danya Popovich, Destin, FL; father. Hubert Hampton Griggs, Samson; three sisters: Sandra Gayle Morris (Lamar), Jupiter, FL, Victoria Ann Holley (Steve), Mobile, AL, Pamela Griggs Gamble, Panama City, FL; several special nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Mrs. Dot Kelley McDougald Byrd of Geneva passed away Wednesday, February I, 2012 at home surrounded by her family after an extended illness. She was 83.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012 in the first Baptist Church of Geneva with Rev. Nathan Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 2. 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may he made to the First Baptist Church, 309 South Commerce Street, Geneva, Alabama 36340, where she was a faithful member tor 56 years, serving in numerous capacities, including many years as a Sunday School teacher.
Mrs. Byrd was born in Bellwood, Alabama on May 31, 1928 to the late Henry Franklin and Beatrice Odom Kelley. She graduated from Coffee Springs School in 1946. She worked at Phillips Van Heusen, Wex-Tex of Samson, Geneva County Tax Assessor's Office, and for many years as an LPN at Wiregrass Hospital in Geneva.
She was predeceased by her parents, an infant sister, Doris, and her first husband, Dempsey W. McDougald. She is survived by her husband, Fred M. Byrd, four children, Elise Eikenes (ldar) of Sandane, Norway, Patsy McKenna of Mobile, Chris McDougald (Ron Simmons) of Chapel Hill, NC, and Jana Fleming (Fred) of Geneva. She is also survived by two sisters, Reba McIntosh (Guessna) of Panama City, Florida, and Rachael Jones (Earl) of Blakely, Georgia. Mrs. Byrd is survived by seven grandchildren (Tore Eikenes, Keith Eikenes, Cris Eikenes, Ben McKenna. Zachary McKenna, Erin Fleming, Lauren Fleming) and nine great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Byrd's dedicated caregiver, Nellie Morris; special friend, Ronnie Brown: the staff of Southern Care Hospice for their loving support; and Dr. David Arnold and his staff for many years of professional care.
